Hello everyone! Today I want to share my second movie, “Billy and The AK47,” with you! The main goal of this movie is for me and my team members to create a short narrative based on the concept of Machinima.
What is Machinima?
It is the concept of creating a narrative using game simulators or game engines. The idea is to use pre-existing characters and settings to create an original story rather than concentrating on game creation.
Story Concept
After our group discussion, we chose the game “Grand Theft Auto 5” for this project because it has the action our character needed for his revenue. Also, it had other elements that were required for the narrative arc and character building, such as showing inside the houses and buying guns from the gun shop, etc. The story of “Billy and The AK47” starts with the present, where Billy (The Protagonist) is fighting the robbers, and then the narrator narrates the story. The narrator takes the viewers into the past and how Billy was such a violent man.
To build the character arc, we decided to portray Billy’s life typically as he and his wife (Sandy), who used to love each other so much and could not stay apart from each other one day, and Billy gets a promotion from his office. He comes home to give this news to his wife, who has neck pain. Hence, she decides to go to the doctor and stops at the bank first; at the bank, there is a robbery going on, and Sandy is killed in that robbery, and then Billy decides to take the revenue from the robbers, and the viewers follow along with his journey.
Other supporting characters are in the story, such as police guys chasing Billy, Jake (The Gun Shop guy), and Billy’s work boss. In the end, after killing the robberies police finally catches Billy and kill him as he also killed some police officers. While he is going to die, he says, “Oh god! Please bless me—” while remembering his wife, which is the end of the story and Billy’s character.
In the next post, I’ll show you guys the screenplay! I’m hoping to see you again soon.
